It's a wrap on FashionCampNYC 2008! It's a little bittersweet. The campers had an amazing time, learned so much but at the same time, they are sad to leave their new friends.

After a meet and greet breakfast with industry professionals, the campers heard an informative talk from keynote speakers Paula Zorn and Sonia Peach of Arbonne.

Finally, each team's branding project was presented to the entire FashionCampNYC family.

The day was capped off with the showing of the above video and a Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Party!

We would like to say thank you to everyone who participated in FashionCampNYC 2008!

Day four started with a lecture from Loren Lee, the Showroom Manager with MAO Public Relations. She explained to the campers what it takes to get started in the industry.

Next, Rebecca Hessel, the Associate Fashion Editor at Cosmopolitan Magazine, gave a presentation highlighting how each magazine cover comes together. She amazed the girls with stories from photo shoots from the beach and even a glacier!

The afternoon was spent shopping and sightseeing all over the Fifth and Madison Ave area and even a few celebrity sightings!

The advanced class attended the morning lectures with the regular campers and then spent the afternoon window shopping and touring the Rootsteins Mannequin Showroom.

Today was another exciting day at FashionCampNYC. The advanced class began the day with a private tour of Cooper Hewitt Museum, a division of the Smithsonian. They were treated to a narrated tour of exhibits including fashion sales books from the 18th century that look almost like the books we saw at the color association 250 years later! After the tour they participated in a hands-on workshop. Split into three teams, the girls had to design a hat and gloves, a handbag and shoes, all using very common household items. Make sure to check out the pictures!

Meanwhile back at LIM, the other campers participated in a lecture by renowned fashion author Lisa Barham, author of A Girl Like Moi. Before lunch, the girls were treated to a surprise: a trip to Dylan's Candy Bar, the most fashionable candy store in the whole world!

In the afternoon, the advanced class took a tour of the Estee Lauder offices and then took a walk down Madison Ave.

The regular session campers participated in a drawing class lead by Elisa Cohen. It was amazing seeing the transformations from a few sketched lines into a full fledged model.

FashionCampNYC was a day in the field for our fashionistas. The regular session campers split into two groups for the morning. Group One went to Shop Studios, a very special design space in NYC which hosts fashion shows, parties, product launches, you name it! Located in a really cool old gears and machinery factory, Shop Studios gave the campers an insight into the world of space design, prop and set design and the use of multimedia. We were even live on publicsquare.tv for a little while! Next, we headed over to Macy's to meet with famed personal shopper and stylist Nina Rutsch. The campers created imaginary women and then had to "shop" for them. Nina lead a very interesting talk (right in the middle of Macy's) regarding the types of outfits and styles suited to different people. We drew a crowd of passersby wondering what was going on! The second group of campers did both morning activities too, just in reverse.

Next, both groups headed over to the corporate headquarters of Coach. Here they took a very special tour of the Coach archives. This was truly a special experience because the archives are not open to the public. Unfortunately, no photography was allowed so you'll have to hear all about it from your campers.

Following Coach, we all headed down to the meat packing district to browse some of the amazing stores and designer boutiques of 14th street.

The advanced campers started their morning with continuing work on their personal style magazine projects. They then headed over to Cotton Inc and met with their fashion marketing director. Cotton Inc collects fashion sheets from all over the world and consults with clients from both the retail and design side. The highlight of this destination was the rooftop that had an amazing view of all the shops on Madison Ave. Stayed to for pictures from this on Wednesday.

Next, they headed over to Mood Fabrics, the location of Project Runway! They were able to get samples of famous fabrics.

Day Two was certainly a busy day. Everyone is looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow!

Welcome to the first day of FashionCampNYC!  After a brief intro video highlighting famous moments in fashion hollywood history (Breakfast At Tiffany's, The Devil Wears Prada), campers got to know each other by participating in icebreakers. They also had the opportunity to learn all about each other’s fashion and school backgrounds.

This was followed by industry insights from Fran Della Badia, Sr. Vice President of Merchandising for Coach and Textile Designer Elizabeth McNulty.

Everyone was captivated by this in-depth look into the fashion industry and judging by the number of questions asked, both speakers could have talked passionately for hours!

Meanwhile, the advanced session campers reunited from last year and updated each other on their past year's fashion experiences. Afterwards, they left LIM and walked down to The Color Association, a color trend forcasting company. Campers were shown color forecasts for the upcoming seasons and were even shown color forecasts going back to the 1930s!

Back at LIM, Campers began work on their group projects in the afternoon.  They worked in teams ripping apart magazines for ideas and concepts as inspiration boards were put together.

It was busy and exciting first day, stayed tuned for much more this week!
